Hey Julia, I've been watching your videos for a while now, as I'm sure many have, for the excellent advice (I'm sure your smile and fun loving attitude aren't hurting the ratings either). But on to the purpose for emailing you. The main issue I have is getting the conversation rolling. Bringing up a positive point of interest (compliment or otherwise) is a fine way to get her attention and then insert your name (and hopefully get hers) but then from there I'm not good at presenting topics or asking questions that spark conversation. I'm normally pretty good at 'active listening' when a girl does start opening up but just not so great at getting them to that point. This second issue probably isn't an issue that can help the majority but I saw this girl walking around the apartment complex late at night with her dog both last night and the night before and I was wanting to introduce myself and see where it led. I'm a little weary to attempt talking to her though because not sure how she'll respond to a random guy approaching her in the parking lot around that time of night. - tflickinger

So I made a new friend, and a few weeks back we were kickin' it at a local bar with some other folks. After a few rounds she asks to see my tattoos, compliments me on my good hygiene, then her hands start wandering a little south of the border. Long story short, I see her myspace page and find out she's engaged. Should I stop hanging out with her to avoid becoming a "Jodi"? Hey! First off, I just want to say I like what I've seen on your blog (otherwise I wouldn't have bothered becoming a fan). I'm not really that great at asking advice but since you seem to be able to break it down fairly well, here it goes: I'm having a "nice guy" issue. I don't know what it is about me or where it comes from but the women I meet seem to just look at me and go "oh, hey, he'd make a great friend!" I'm not complaining about making friends, I love them dearly, but I what can I do if I want more? I meet a lady, we get to talking, make each other laugh, have tons in common, and then I end up being the guy she calls to gush about this new guy she met or I am the one who sits up on the phone at all hours when her current boy toy goes out with friends and doesn't call. When I do bring up taking things farther than friendship, I usually get told that she doesn't want to ruin the friendship. Am I being too much the gentleman? I mean, I'm still a virgin at 25, so its not like I'm just aiming to jump into bed! I'm just getting tired of being everyones favorite "guy friend". Is that so wrong? - slimskeeter

I remember this episode of Seinfeld in which Elaine bumps into an ex-boyfriend of hers and Jerry immediately predicts with complete certainty that they're getting back together. Elaine of course denies it, but then hooks up with the ex anyway (many times over). I know it's just a T.V. show, but I've always thought that it gave a certain amount of insight on reality. Do you think that crossing paths with an ex, after a good amount of time apart, could lead to "indiscretions"? And how big of a factor are the circumstances surrounding the initial breakup? - deertay

Hi Julia, Wow, I haven't been visiting Double Agent for a while now because there weren't anything new. The site provided no updates on good advice for men in general. Unlike Men's Health Magazine or their website, I can get health information and a great dissection and understanding of what goes on in women's minds. But happening to visit today, well, I just wanted to say to you that you are helping a lot of guys out there; including me. I just happened to click on your video-blog and thought to tune in on what you had to say on one video. And well, after one, and then another, and then yet another, you kind of got me hooked! In a good way! Finishing and going through all of them. Not to say you’re not gorgeous or anything. Sorry, if that sounded weird. OK, that was embarrassing. But seriously, a lot of what you’re saying makes sense. We men just tend to think differently at times, and I don’t know if it’s just our nature; but none the less we can learn if we cared enough, right? Trying to make this short, thank you for your aspiring talk (meaning the video-blog) to giving men confidence and a look at women’s perspective; because often time we just screw things up and then ask why when the signs are there. And as far as random video-blog, well they are very entertaining! It's like a TV show that should be called Julia 101. Staying tuned in and paying attention, I’m all ears and attentive.
