Video games turned movies can be hit or miss. There are the good ones, like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Then there are the really, really bad ones like Super Mario Brothers. But, there is a new movie based on a video game in the works that looks like it might be worth shelling out 15 bucks to see in the theater.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stanley Long, a Hong Kong filmmaker who directed Jackie Chan's latest The Myth, is currently in talks to possibly direct the big screen version of Fear Effect. Mark A. Altman, Mindfire's CEO, will produce the film along with Mark Gottwald, Mindfire's Chairman, and Chuck Speed, the senior VP of business affairs. It will be based on Steve Kriozere's screenplay.
What can we expect of the movie? Well, Altman has described it as Mission: Impossible meets Silent Hill! He also added that the storyline with faithfully follow that of the game. However, it will take place 10 years in the future. So far there aren't any further details, but we'll keep you posted.
