While an alarm system will let you know if someone has broken into your home, it won't do much to stop a determined intruder once they're inside. Instead of sleeping with a gun under the pillow or hoping you avoid the situation, rest assured that you can always use your trusty bedside table instead of lethal action.

When not in use to hold your book or glass of water, it doubles as a normal bedside table with modern design stylings, but in the middle of the night, if you think there might be an intruder in your home, the table can ease into a club and shield giving you a fighting chance--literally. The stand for the table resembles a bat and the top of the table serves as a shield with metal slots to place your arm in to ward of the intruder's attack. Made out of cherry wood and steel, this invention is sure to handle even the largest of attackers.

Designed by James McAdam, the ingenious Safe Bedside Table was created in response to a report that 50 percent of people in London were worried about security and kept some sort of self-defense close by while they slept. While it isn't mentioned how much time it takes to take the two pieces apart, it most likely is quicker then running to grab a knife or gun, and less deadly. Instead of killing the guy, you can just wound him with your steel bedside table.
