If you can only plan one getaway in the next coming months and want to skip an expensive flight, why not try to make it to a place where the Bourbon is flowing? Head to Bardstwon, Kentucky from September 16 through the 21st and get your drink on at The Annual Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
Bardstown, Kentucky has been the production location of Bourbon since 1776. So, it's no surprise that the town has been dubbed the Bourbon Capital of the World.
From black tie galas to historical tours, there is something for all ages and interests and the festival. In 2007, the Festival saw 55,000 visitors, from 40 different states, while others hauled their Bourbon loving asses all the way from 14 various countries. (If your pals or woman aren't down with Bourbon, use this trip as just another excuse to drink.)
Things To Do While on Bourbon:
1. Catch a country music concert featuring Kellie Pickler and Blake Shelton.
2. Hang at Bourbons, Cigar & Jazz: An evening for cigar and Bourbon aficionados, featuring CAO cigars, fine Heaven Hill Bourbons, great food and live music, Mardi Gras-style.
3. Join Certified Ghost Hunter Patti Starr for a historic walking tour and ghost hunt on the shadowy streets of Bardstown.
4. Watch people make fools of themselves as they roll 500-lb. Bourbon barrels in a race.
