With extra comfy seats, hot stewardesses and all the gadget hook ups you can dream of, Virgin America's inaugural flights are the new hot spots in the friendly skies. Even in coach, you will feel as if you are in first class as you text your friend in their seat, play video games and order pay-per-view movies available on demand.

The brainchild of billionaire Richard Branson, the lighting in the cabin changes throughout the flight to bring you gently in and out of slumber and even the safety instruction manual was designed so that you'll actually read it; the characters are dressed hip and it reads like a magazine. For the lushes, there is also a mini-bar at the rear of the plane that is rumored to soon be stocked with not only alcohol, but gadgets.

Why It Rocks:

  • Two 110-volt power sockets for every three seats in coach.

  • A pair of wireless access points that'll have Net connectivity once approved by the FAA.

  • You can create your own playlist from their selection of over 3,000 MP3s and the next time you fly with them, your selection is remembered and brought up on screen again.

  • Seat-to-seat text chatting. You can also join a group chat around each TV channel while you watch TV and you can join topic-based chat rooms.

  • Ethernet and USB ports for every seat.

  • Wide range of movies, games (including Doom), and Google Maps on the in-flight entertainment system.

  • Instead of annoying non-smoking signs, they have ones that say "Please Turn Off Electronic Devices."

  • Comparable Prices: A round-trip New York-to-San Francisco ticket is just $298.

Currently, there are plans to add direct New York to Los Angeles flights beginning August 29, 2007 and more routes later this year, including service between Washington's Dulles International Airport and the West Coast.
