If you like mob-themed video games, and were afraid that the only choice you'd get would be Electronic Art's The Godfather, then we have some news for you. Unfortunately, the news is both good and bad.
THQ had originally announced in May that they would release a game based on HBO's hit series The Sopranos for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2.
However, THQ recently revealed that they spoke to the developer of the Xbox 360 version and told them to nix it.
While on a conference call with analysts, Edward K. Zinser, THQ's chief financial officer, talked about the company's amortization for the first financial quarter that ended June 30.'Amortization of 18 percent was up three points versus the prior year quarter, he told the analysts. 'This is primarily due to our decision to discontinue development of the Sopranos for Xbox 360. There is no change to our plans to replace it, [but] we will release it on PS2 [during] the holiday [season].
It was later confirmed by THQ reps to GameSpot that it was 'on track for it's fourth-quarter release. The game is currently being developed by 7 Studios, who you might know as also being the maker of game adaptations of the Fantastic 4 and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow.
