For everyone living under a rock, or those, like this author, who've been trying to forget because their budgets don't allow much enthusiasm, the Xbox 360 has officially been released. So here's a little gathering of the post launch buzz:
First, Kotaku says that an ad (from Best Buy no less) claiming the 360 can burn CDs and DVDs is either a horrific misunderstanding in marketing, or a downright lie. I'm inclined to agree with them.
Meanwhile of course, Sony enthusiasts have been doing their best to hold out for their console. And according to Sir Howard Stringer, Sony's CEO, it may be worth the wait. A recent CNN money article reports that he has reiterated his promise of packaging player technology for a high-quality dvd format called blu-ray in the PS3, at financial loss to Sony. ie, the added tech won't drive up the price, which is expected to be $300-400. What do you get for the money? More than the Xbox, in several areas: according to the article the PS3 will have a faster processor and significantly more powerful graphics. Of course, considering the PS3 isn't coming out till sometime next year, it's almost expected that the tech be at least slightly better.
