Gamers rejoice. We have a sneak peek into the next Star Wars game that has yet to be released-Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Set to come out in 2008, Krome Studios will be making the PSP/PS2 version, and n-Space will be creating the Nintendo DS version. So, where does the Wii come into play? A LucasArts rep said, "even if that version does happen, it probably wouldn't be 'the lightsaber game' that gamers have eagerly been awaiting." So, it looks like you won't be getting the chance to use your "lightstick" just yet.
(If you don't want to know anything before playing, stop reading now.)
What sets this game apart is that you get to be Darth Vader's secret apprentice and learn the intricacies of the Dark Side of the Force. While it is distinctly a single-player game, there is also a multiplayer component that has not been explained yet. The story is set in between Episodes III (Revenge of the Sith) and IV (A New Hope), and your character gets the dirty job of picking up after all of the remaining Jedi around the universe.
You'll encounter a lot of familiar figures to the Star Wars universe, including Darth Vader, and countless Stormtroopers. You will be able to fight new characters (Jedi General Kota, Maris Brood) in new locations (Felucia, Raxus Prime, and Haroon, the crystal moon) and some of your friends include a protocol droid and Juno Eclipse (the shapely female pilot).
The game will feature multiple endings and (potentially) leave room for a sequel. According to the press release, "The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls -- he'll Force push enemies through walls. He'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb." Crossing over to the dark side never sounded so good.
