Now, I really don't get into the whole romantic comedy circuit, but chances are if such a flick is made by Cameron Crowe (the director who brought success films like ALMOST FAMOUS and VANILLA SKY to the screens) it can't be anything but good.
ELIZABETHTOWN is his latest film that will star two of Hollywood's hottest young actors: Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom. The story is about a guy (Bloom) who "after causing the Oregon shoe company he works for to lose hundreds of millions of dollars" decides to move back to his small hometown, where on the way he meets a new young woman (Dunst) and finds and unexpected love. Ok, so the plot does seem terribly lackluster, but ALMOST FAMOUS probably sounded a little cheesy before it came out.
Crowe is responsible for writing the film, and has also cast Susan Sarandon and Alec Baldwin in supporting roles (which may or may not up the cheese factor).
ELIZABETHTOWN comes out October 14th, and is rated PG-13. Let's hope that Cameron Crowe (along with Bloom and Dunst) cannot help but make this seemingly dull plot into a stellar flick.
