Inventor Sergio Aguirre has recently come up with the Serenity Panel, a video screen on a headstone that can help families celebrate the life of a lost loved one.Aguirre came up with the idea at the wake for his father-in-law when a movie screen rolled down to show a video tribute that made guests stop crying and start smiling at the memories.

Although the concept has been around for years, previous inventors nixed the idea afraid of lack of demand and issues with durability. However, Aguirre promises his Serenity Panel is durable. It is vandal resistant and has also been tested to withstand harsh weather. The 7-inch, shatter-resistant LCD screen has been designed to last 15 years. At that point, it can either be replaced with a newer device or covered with a bronze plaque.

Its screen is covered by a solar panel that can be flipped open by visitors. Once opened the 5-7 minute video starts. The solar panel helps to protect the screen and also charges a battery inside. Four hours of sun powers it enough to play continuous video for up to 90 minutes. Two standard headphone jacks are also included to listen to the audio.

The Serenity Panel is now available, at a cost of about $1,500. A warranty is included, while an additional 10 years of coverage is another $200.
