Bridgeville, CA was the first town to be auctioned on eBay. Now, it looks as if it will soon be back up for bids.Bruce Krall bought the town nearly two years ago. He recently stated that he intends to re-auction the town in April.

"Due to family reasons, I'm pretty much tied to Southern California for the foreseeable future," he said. "We can't move up there. It only makes sense to pass it on to somebody else." The auction is set to open April first with a starting minimum bid of $1.75 million, which is over twice the amount he paid for the 83-acre property.

The town, populated by about 25 people, is located on the Van Duzen River. It started a bidding war in 2002 when it was the first town to be auctioned on eBay.The original deal fell through when the first buyer, whose winning bid was $1.78 million, never visited the property. It was eventually posted as a traditional real estate listing, where Krall saw it and bought it in May 2004for around $700,000.

Since his purchase, Krall has invested "multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars" on the town, restoring old buildings, removing those that were dilapidated, and also cleaning up a lot of trash. He has also found tenants for the houses and has gotten a conditional use permit for a possible riverfront resort.

"It's come full circle," he said. "Now it's been fixed up, and I think it's actually ready to be sold on eBay.
