Darren Aronofsky has already made big splashes in the film industry with his previous releases PIE and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM. Since then the director has been trying desperately to get his third film off the ground, and some of us out here are starting to wonder if we'll ever get to see his newest project, titled THE FOUNTAIN. The film originally started out as a $90 million sci-fi flick back in October of 2002 with Brad Pitt cast in the lead, but over time has now trickled to a $35 million flick with hopes of one day getting released. (Though for Aronofsky, budget means jack. Remember, this is the guy who brought us PIE from film school.)
THE FOUNTAIN stars Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz as lovers whose story spans three parallel times, and explores the fragility of life. Coming from Darren, this almost guaranteed to be an amazing film. It is just too bad it keeps getting delayed. The film was originally scheduled for release later this year, with a graphic novel to coincide. It has been recently announced though, that the film won't be released until early 2006. How this will all iron out, and when/if we'll get to see the comics is still in the air. Hopefully this one will come sooner than later, as it will surely be a success. This is definitely a movie to keep your eyes on.
We will ever see Aronofsky's new film?
