Holy Crap! Your wildest dreams have just come true. That's right, we have just been informed that there is actually something out there called the Pillow Fight League. Stacy Case, 38, who is a musician and a T-shirt printer, thought up the ingenious idea that people would actually pay to see costumed women beat the crap out of each other with fluffy pillows, and that the women would actually volunteer to do so.
The idea came to him when his band played a New Year's Eve show in Toronto last year. At that time, a burlesque troupe got the crowd going by engaging in a simulated pillow fight. It was surprising to see that women in the audience volunteered to help out!
'It was really, really fun, and really funny that they were actually fighting for real. I woke up the next day, and I was like, Oh my God, that was awesome', he has said. After placing some ads in a local paper, he and his friends began booking events in various bars. They now have 22 fighters on the roster, a fan base that's steadily growing, and dreams to make the PFL into something huge. But, don't think you'll see just scantily clad models playfully whacking each other with pillows.
'People all have a conception in their head of what a pillow fight is all about, stated Don 'The Mouth Lovranski, Case's co-investor and the shows' announcer. 'When they come to it, though, they see it's not hot blonds in negligees; the fights are real, and there's some fun to it. I think that's what the appeal is. The girls who fight in the League all have cutesy names, all have different looks, and come out in interesting costumes. There are just a few simple rules that the fighters must follow. Only women can fight, they can't be lewd, and you can use wrestling-type moves like submission holds and leg drops only if done in conjunction with a pillow. So far it looks like the PFL is only in Canada, but we hope it makes its way across the border ASAP!
